To commemorate the daring life, legacy and death, of Jack Sheppard, who two hundred and ninety five years ago, on the 16th of November 1724, was hanged at Tyburn we’ve crafted the Blueskin Hat.
Named after his conspirator and modelled on the description of the last hat Sheppard stole, this oversized design resembles a top hat of sorts.
Joseph "Blueskin" Blake and Sheppard worked together and their excellent capabilities, expensive taste and growing confidence led them to attempt ever more daring robberies. They were first introduced at the Black Lion tavern off Drury Lane where they spent many evenings jesting and seducing women.
It was also on Drury Lane where Sheppard committed his final burglary breaking into a pawnbrokers and making away with a complete Dandy’s outfit comprised of a top hat, a wig, a black silk suit, rings, watches and a silver sword. He was arrested days later, blind drunk and in the company of two women.
