Inspired by laudanum, the heady potion that satisfied the Victorian’s desire for romantic escapism, at once fatally addictive & utterly enchanting.
Elizabeth Siddal, an artist model for the Pre-Raphaelite painters, most famously captured in Millais’s Ophelia, was a regular and ardent enthusiast of the supposedly medicinal beverage. Ophelia is in stasis enveloped in the deepest green hues of flora which are encapsulated in our Laudanum Dress.
