MAGWITCH SLEEVED MANTLE-menswear-A Child Of The Jago

Regular price £475.00 Sale

Inspired by the greasy velveteen coats worn by the Shore Workers and Marsh Men at the end of the 19th Century, the wax mantle is made from a waterproof wax cotton with a 100% wool lining making it perfect for excursions across all terrains.

Furnished with pockets of vast capacity, these velveteen coats would hold the treasures of the shore line, copper nails, bolts, iron and old rope.

The Magwitch Wax Mantle, named after the character from Dickens’s Great Expectations, features both outer and inner pockets and a detachable hood. Fastening is with buttons and tightening straps at the cuffs.

It also looks great styled with our Tricorne Hat in Waxed Cotton.

The fit of the Mantle is oversized and is designed to be unisex. For the correct fit we recommend an M for women’s size 10/12 and a L for men’s size 42/44.

Offered here in olive waxed cotton.

Sponge clean only. See our Wax Garment Care Guide.

We make small quantities of high quality pieces. If your size is sold out, you are welcome to contact us and if we have fabrics available, we will be happy to make your size to order for you.

As it was in the time of the Jago, the street is our stage!
