WAX GARMENT CARE GUIDE

Always clean the garment using cold water and a sponge to wipe down the outside. Avoid using hot water and any kind of soap. NEVER put the item in the washing machine, as this will remove the wax coating permanently and the garment cannot be re-waxed.

Next take a tin of Wax Cotton Dressing, remove the lid, and stand the tin in a container of warm water hot enough to soften the wax. It should take approximately 20 minutes to melt the wax into a liquid consistency.

Then wax your garment using an old cloth or sponge, work the melted wax thoroughly into the item, paying particular attention to seams, creases and dry patches. Wipe off any excess wax. You should keep the wax tin in the hot water whilst working.

Then dry your garment to ensure you get an extra smooth finish, blow hot air over the garment with a hair dryer to achieve an even spread of the wax.

Once you’ve re-waxed the item, hang it up, and allow it to dry overnight in a warm place away from other garments. Re-wax your garments once a year.
